FOSTER

Open Your Home. Change A Life.

Every pet deserves safety, love, and a chance to thrive. At Peach State Rescue, Inc., our foster homes are the backbone of everything we do. We don’t operate as a traditional shelter — instead, we rely on caring individuals and families who open their homes to animals in need.

When you become a foster, you’re not only saving that animal’s life — you’re giving them a chance to learn what it means to be loved and to prepare for their forever home.

Apply To Foster

Why Fostering Matters

Every day, animals in shelters face euthanasia due to overcrowding and limited resources.

Foster homes allow us to remove animals from those environments and give them safety, medical care, and individualized attention.

When you foster, you’re doing more than providing temporary housing — you’re giving that pet the bridge between hardship and a new beginning.

Fosters help us:

  • Save lives from high-risk shelters and emergency situations.

  • Provide one-on-one attention that animals can’t always get in shelter settings.

  • Help animals decompress, socialize, and build confidence.

  • Learn each animal’s behavior and preferences to match them with the right adopter.

  • Open space so we can rescue more at-risk animals.

Even short-term fostering makes a massive impact. Whether it’s one week, one month, or until adoption — every foster home truly saves lives.

Fostering Opportunities

Bottle Babies

Expecting Moms & Nursing Litters

Expecting Moms & Nursing Litters

These tiny newborns require around-the-clock care — feeding every 2–4 hours, help with bathroom stimulation, and careful monitoring of their weight and temperature. It’s an intensive but incredibly rewarding experience that truly saves lives.

We provide formula, bottles, heating pads, and all supplies needed to give these babies their best start.

Pregnant or nursing dogs and cats need a calm, safe environment where they can give birth and raise their young in comfort.

Fosters provide warmth, stability, and love until the babies are weaned and ready for adoption. These families thrive in quiet homes and are perfect for fosters who enjoy nurturing and watching little ones grow.

Young and Adult Dogs & Cats

These are healthy, adoptable pets who just need a temporary home until they find their forever family.

Some may come from shelters or tough situations and need time to decompress. Fosters help them adjust to home life, build confidence, and show their true personalities.

Most fosters only require a few weeks of care and basic daily routines — love, walks, meals, and a cozy place to rest.

Senior Pets

Expecting Moms & Nursing Litters

Young and Adult Dogs & Cats

Senior pets are often the most grateful fosters. Many have spent years in homes before losing their families and ending up in shelters.

They typically need a slower-paced environment, soft bedding, and lots of affection. These fosters are perfect for calm households that want to give older animals comfort, dignity, and love in their golden years.

Medical/Special Needs

Short-Term or Emergency Fosters

Short-Term or Emergency Fosters

Sometimes animals need a safe place for just a few days or weeks before a transport, event, or permanent foster placement.

These situations are ideal for people who travel frequently or want to help but can’t commit long-term. Even short stays make a massive difference and open space for another life to be saved.

Socialization Fosters

Short-Term or Emergency Fosters

Socialization Fosters

Many kittens and even some adult cats need help learning to trust humans.

Socialization fosters work with shy, undersocialized, or semi-feral cats — helping them grow comfortable with touch, play, and home life. With patience and love, these cats blossom into affectionate companions ready for adoption.

Behavioral Fosters

Some dogs and cats need a little extra help learning manners, leash skills, or confidence around people and other pets.

Our team provides training guidance and support materials so you can help your foster overcome fears or anxieties and become adoption-ready.

The Foster Transition Period

Like adopters, fosters also play a key role in helping pets decompress and adjust to home life. We encourage all fosters to follow the 3-3-3 Rule — giving your foster:

  • 3 days to decompress and feel safe

  • 3 weeks to learn routines and expectations

  • 3 months to fully relax and show their true personality

Our team will guide you every step of the way and provide tools for success.

Benefits of Fostering

Fostering doesn’t just save lives — it’s deeply fulfilling. Many of our fosters say it’s changed their lives, too.
You’ll gain:

  • Joy from watching a pet transform under your care

  • Experience in animal behavior, training, and care

  • The reward of seeing your foster find their forever home

  • The satisfaction of knowing you made a direct impact on saving lives

Fostering changes lives — both theirs and yours.
You’ll experience the joy of watching a scared, uncertain animal blossom into a happy, confident companion. You’ll teach them trust, comfort, and love — things they may have never known before.

When your foster gets adopted, it’s bittersweet but beautiful. You’ll know that because of you, they found their forever home. And you’ll have space in your heart and home to save another.
