Every animal in our care has a story — and a second chance. At Peach State Rescue, Inc., we believe every pet deserves love, safety, and a forever home. When you adopt, you’re not just saving one life — you’re opening space for us to save another.
Whether you’re looking for a playful puppy, a gentle senior dog, or a special needs companion, we’ll help you find the perfect match.
Adopting a pet is simple! Just follow this step-by-step process outlined here.
Visit our Adoptable Pets Page or follow us on social media to meet the animals currently looking for homes.
Complete our Adoption Application Form. This helps us learn more about you, your home, and what kind of companion you’re hoping to adopt.
Once your application is approved, we’ll arrange a meet-and-greet — either at our facility, foster home, or a local event.
Our team ensures every adoption is a safe and happy match. A brief home visit or virtual check helps confirm your space is suitable for your new friend.
The adoption fee helps cover the cost of medical care, spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations.
You’ll also review and sign our Adoption Agreement outlining care and responsibility expectations.
Congratulations — you’ve saved a life! We’ll send you home with your pet’s medical records, transition tips, and our lifelong support.
To adopt from Peach State Rescue, you must:
Adopters must provide a safe, loving, and stable home, with full household consent. Renters must show proof of pet-friendly housing or landlord approval.
Peach State Rescue reserves the right to deny any application if it is determined that the home is not in the best interest of the animal.
(Fee includes: Spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccines, behavioral assessment, foster care support, and veterinary care such as heartworm testing and preventatives, flea/tick treatment, exams, and health record.)
Are you a U.S. Military Veteran? Through our Pets for Vets initiative, we proudly offer discounted adoption fees to all U.S. military veterans. Find out more here.
Adoption is a lifelong promise. Most dogs live 10–15 years, sometimes longer. Your new pet will depend on you for food, shelter, medical care, companionship, and love for their entire life. Please be sure you’re ready to make that long-term commitment before applying.
Pets thrive on consistency and attention. Consider your daily schedule, work hours, travel plans, and energy level. Dogs need regular exercise, training, playtime, and affection. Think about how a pet will fit into your routine — and who will care for them when you’re away.
Make sure your home is safe, comfortable, and pet-friendly. Check for potential hazards, secure fences and gates, and prepare a quiet space where your new companion can decompress. If you rent, ensure your landlord or HOA allows pets and provide proof of permission if needed.
Everyone in the household should agree to the adoption. Introduce new pets slowly and under supervision. We’re happy to offer guidance on how to safely integrate your rescue animal into your family — especially if you already have other pets at home.
Pet ownership includes ongoing expenses such as food, routine veterinary care, flea/tick prevention, grooming, toys, and training. Unexpected medical costs can arise, too. Please make sure you’re financially prepared to provide high-quality care throughout your pet’s life.
Every rescue animal needs time to adjust to their new home:
We’re here to support you every step of the way — even after adoption.

At Peach State Rescue, our mission begins where hope is fading. We primarily focus on saving dogs at risk of euthanasia in overcrowded local shelters—giving them the second chance they deserve. These are loving, adoptable animals who simply ran out of time and space.
In addition to shelter rescues, we also accept pets in urgent need from the community—those who may have no other safe option. Whether they’ve been neglected, abandoned, surrendered, or found in vulnerable situations, we’re here to provide care, compassion, and a path to a better life.
Every pet we rescue is a life saved, and every adoption helps us save the next one.
The process usually takes a few days to one week, depending on application volume, reference checks, and scheduling meet-and-greets. We do our best to match each animal with the right home — not just the fastest one.
Yes! Many of our adopters are renters. However, you must provide proof of pet-friendly housing or landlord approval before finalizing your adoption.
We encourage adopters with other pets to apply! During the process, we’ll ask about your current pets and their personalities to ensure a good match. We may also suggest a meet-and-greet to introduce your current pet(s) and potential new companion in a neutral environment.
Yes. A brief home visit or virtual check helps us confirm your home is safe and appropriate for your new pet. This step ensures the well-being of the animal and supports a smooth transition for everyone.
In most cases, yes! We adopt to approved applicants both in and outside of Georgia, though adopters outside our area may be responsible for arranging or covering transportation. We also partner with trusted transport networks to help animals safely reach their new homes.
We understand that sometimes things don’t go as planned. Peach State Rescue has a lifetime return policy — if you can no longer care for your adopted pet, we ask that you return them to us. We’ll always take them back, no judgment.
Absolutely. We stay connected with our adopters and offer resources, training tips, decompression guides, and ongoing advice to ensure a successful transition. You’re part of the Peach State Rescue family for life.
The 3-3-3 Rule is a helpful guideline to understand what your rescue pet may experience as they adjust to their new home. It represents the three stages of settling in — 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months — and helps adopters set realistic expectations for behavior, bonding, and progress.
Every pet is different, but this timeline offers a general idea of what to expect:
Your new pet may feel overwhelmed, scared, or unsure about their surroundings. Everything is new — people, smells, sounds, and routines. During this time:
By now, your pet is starting to recognize their new home and daily patterns. They’re learning who you are, when meals happen, where they sleep, and what’s expected of them. During this stage:
By the 3-month mark, most pets are beginning to feel truly settled and secure. They know your routine, your voice, and your expectations. This is when lasting bonds form.
The 3-3-3 Rule isn’t a strict timeline — it’s a guide. Some pets adjust faster, others take longer, especially those with past trauma or special needs. What matters most is giving them time, consistency, and unconditional love.
At Peach State Rescue, Inc., we’re always here to support you through the transition. If you ever need advice, reassurance, or resources, our team is just a message away.
Yes! Fostering saves lives and is a wonderful option if you’re not ready to adopt permanently. Learn more about becoming a foster at our Foster Program Page.
